Minutewomen Fall On The Road At Boston College

Jermany Mapp led UMass with a season-high 14 points as the Minutewomen wrapped up a six-game road trip on Wednesday.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. The University of Massachusetts women's basketball team fell on the road at Boston College on Wednesday night, 95-57. Jermany Mapp led the Minutewomen with a season-high 14 points as UMass wrapped up its six-game road trip against the Eagles.
 
Mapp finished 6-of-8 from the field while Lilly Taulelei shot a perfect 6-of-6 on her way to scoring 12 points to mark her third consecutive game with 10 or more. Stefanie Kulesza chipped in 11 points and grabbed six of her seven rebounds in the first 20 minutes.
 
Kristin Williams scored the first five points for UMass as the Minutewomen opened the game with a 5-4 advantage. The Eagles made eight of their first nine shot attempts for an 89-percent clip to eventually build a 24-9 lead with 3:17 left in the first. UMass answered with a 7-0 scoring run to end the frame while holding the Eagles scoreless for the final three minutes and change while finishing the quarter shooting 55-percent from the field and 50-percent from 3-point range.
 
Both squads opened the second quarter shooting 2-of-10 from the field with UMass holding Boston College without a field goal for nearly four minutes in the quarter. The Minutewomen and Eagles shot an identical 6-of-17 from the field in the second for 35-percent with BC holding a 41-28 lead at the halftime break.
 
Boston College shot 80-percent in the third quarter to build its lead, including starting 11-of-12 from the field and 3-of-3 from deep. The Eagles built a lead as many as 32 at 69-37 with 3:16 to go in the quarter and finished the frame with a 32-15 scoring advantage. BC kept it going in the fourth quarter, outscoring UMass 22-14 en route to a 95-57 win.
 
Chinenye Odenigbo added career-high marks in points with seven and rebounds with six while Williams finished with nine points and three assists.
 
The Minutewomen return home to the Mullins Center on Sunday for a noon tip against UMass Lowell and wrap up non-conference action on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at home against UAlbany.
