Cohen and Ndjigue Sweep Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards

AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts basketball student-athletes Josh Cohen and Jayden Ndjigue each earned Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Senior Josh Cohen receives A-10 Player of The Week, while Jayden Ndjigue takes home Rooke of The Week honors. The selection marks the first Atlantic 10 Weekly Award for either player.
Senior Josh Cohen had a standout week at the 2023 Diamond Head Classic, helping lead the Minutemen to two victories over Portland (100-78) and Old Dominion (87-65). The Lincroft, New Jersey native averaged 22 points and 4.7 rebounds over three games while shooting an impressive 69.7% from the field.
Cohen became the first player since Jesse Morgan on Feb. 3, 2012 to go perfect from the field with at least nine field goals attempted, after going 9-for-9 from the field versus Portland. The Senior was honored as a Diamond Head Classic All-Tournament Team selection for his performances.
Freshman Jayden Ndjigue had the best week of his young career over the holiday, averaging 11 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 steals across three games at the Diamond Head Classic. Ndjigue started all three games helping Massachusetts earn two victories over Portland (100-78) and Old Dominion (87-65).
The Ayer, Massachusetts native set a new career-high in points with 13 against Portland on Friday, Dec. 22. The freshman also recorded a career-high five steals against Georgia Tech, becoming the first Minuteman to record 5 or more steals in a single game since Trent Buttrick did so on Nov. 9, 2021.
