Massachusetts Tennis Inks Melisa Senli

Native of Turkey will join UMass tennis program in the fall of 2022.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis and head coach Juancarlos Nunez announced the signing of Melisa Senli to a National Letter of Intent to join the Minutewomen beginning in Fall 2022.
"I'm excited to welcome Melisa into our program," said Nunez. "From the moment we started communicating, I could sense how passionate and driven she is, and she has the qualities we are looking for both on the court as a strong tennis player and off the court as an individual of high character. I know how excited she is to get to Amherst in the Fall and help our team continue to grow and achieve our goals."
Senli hails from Izmir, Turkey, and attended Okyanus High School. During her career, she ranked as high as No. 215 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Ranking, while holding her highest Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 10.11.
"I chose UMass because I believe UMass is the proper university for me and it will give me an amazing experience that includes beneficial education and a tennis program," said Senli. "I am so excited to be a part of the team because I will attend to matches with an outstanding coach and team members."
While training at the Iztik Tennis Center in Izmir, Turkey, she had been a member of the Turkish Olympic Preparation Program for five years nad represented Turkey at the Youth Olympic Games. At the ITF World Junior Team Finals, Senli aided her team to a fourth-place finish.
Senli competed in multiple tournaments as a junior player, where she was a Singles Champion in 2021 and a six-time Doubles Champion (3x, 2020; 2x, 2021). She was a two-time Doubles Finalist in both 2019 and 2021, and a four-time Singles Finalist, once in 2020 and three times in 2021.
