van Herwijnen and Sullivan-Brown Garner UMass Student-Athlete of the Week Accolades

The freshman and redshirt senior will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon on Wednesday.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts field hockey freshman Myrte van Herwijnen and football redshirt senior Cameron Sullivan-Brown have been named the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by UMassFive, as announced on Tuesday. They will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon on Wednesday, November 9, in the Berkshire Room at the Berkshire Dining Commons.
 
The Lunch runs from Noon to 1 p.m. with the speaking program beginning at approximately 12:15 p.m. This week's featured speakers are Head Rowing Coach Eric Carish, as well as Head Football Coach Don Brown. Cost of the lunch is $14 at the door, $10 for UMass alumni.

van Herwijnen recorded six saves in Thursday afternoon's 4-2 Atlantic 10 Semifinal win against VCU, helping lead the Minutewomen to the Atlantic 10 Championship game. In the Championship contest, the Huizen, Netherlands native recorded five saves. She was also named the All-Tournament Goalkeeper by the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Sullivan-Brown battled through injury to return to the UMass Football lineup, posting a breakout game at UConn on Friday night. The Bowie, Maryland native totaled a career-high 124 receiving  yards, as well as a career-long 53-yard catch for a touchdown. He has now recorded 253 receiving yards and two touchdowns in seven games played on the season.
