No. 21 Massachusetts Field Hockey Drops Atlantic 10 Championship Game To No. 11 Saint Joseph's, 3-0

AMHERST, Mass. - The No. 21 University of Massachusetts field hockey team has lost its final Atlantic 10 battle of the season to the Saint Joseph's Hawks, 3-0, who won their second Atlantic 10 Tournament in a row on Saturday afternoon at the Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex. The Hawks finish the season with a 15-5 record (7-0 Atlantic 10), while the Minutewomen sit at 15-4 (6-1 Atlantic 10) on the season.

The Minutewomen defense held strong in the first quarter, only allowing four shots by Saint Joseph's, before the Hawks first struck at 10:20 in the second quarter. Sol Borensztein netted a rebound off goalkeeper Myrte van Herwijnen (5 saves). Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Tournament Player Lily Santi notched her goal of the game at 2:12 in the third quarter off an assist from Freke van Tilburg off a penalty corner. van Tilburg recorded her own goal at 5:09 in the fourth quarter right off a penalty corner insert, inserted by Anna Miller and stick stopped by Katy Benton.

Saint Joseph's led Massachusetts in shots (18-0) and penalty corners (7-0).

At the conclusion of the match, the Atlantic 10 announced the All-Championship Team, to which seniors Jess Beech and Steph Gottwals, alongside freshmen Paula Lorenzini and van Herwijnen, were named.
