Fournier, Mendoza Tabbed UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

The duo will be recognized at the UMass Sports Luncheon on Wednesday.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's soccer midfielder Evan Fournier and women's soccer goalkeeper Bella Mendoza were tabbed the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week presented by UMassFive on Tuesday morning.

Fournier (Belchertown, Mass.) scored a goal and picked up an assist as the Minutemen remained unbeaten on the season with a 2-2 draw at Fordham on Saturday night. Fournier opened the scoring in the eighth minute with his third goal of the year before dishing out an assist on a UMass goal in the 75th-minute.

Mendoza (San Ramon, Calif.) picked up 16 saves and two clean sheets as the Minutewomen recorded a pair of wins last week. In Thursday's 1-0 win over Duquesne, Mendoza stopped a season-high nine shots in the home win. The junior followed with another shutout in Sunday's 1-0 win at St. Bonaventure, coming up with seven saves in the win.
