Massachusetts Tennis Completes Weekend At ITA Regionals

HANOVER, N.H. – The duo of junior Mariya Krasakova and freshman Melisa Senli went 3-1 in doubles competition as the lone pair for the University of Massachusetts tennis team, while five Minutewomen competed in singles play at the ITA Regionals on Friday, September 30 through Sunday, October 2, hosted by Dartmouth.

Krasakova and Senli defeated their respective Sacred Heart opponents, 8-3, in the Round of 64, before taking down their opponents from Brown 8-7(4) in the Round of 32 on Friday to advance to the Round of 16 on Saturday. The pair downed fellow Atlantic 10 rivals from Rhode Island 8-5 in the round, earning a spot to the Quarterfinals. The duo faced opposition from Harvard, falling 8-3 on Sunday afternoon.

The First Round of singles competition began on Friday, as Krasakova, Anna Napadiy and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul all played, unfortunately falling to their opponents. Danielle Hack and Senli took to the courts on Saturday in the singles Round of 64, with Hack defeating her Cornell opponent 6-2, 6-3, and Senli winning 7-5, 6-3 over her opponent from Fairfield. Both Hack and Senli fought hard in the next round, but fell to each of their opponents.

Hack and Jonglertrakul will travel to the ITA All-American Championships, competing on Monday, October 3, in the Qualifying Round of doubles play, while other members will take a break from action, before returning to action at both the Super Regionals, hosted by Yale, on Friday, October 21 through Monday, October 24, and the Brown Classic on Saturday, October 22 through Sunday, October 23.
