Men’s Soccer Adds Fordham, Yohena To Roster

Matt Fordham and Shizu Yohena join five additional newcomers on the 2021 roster.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team announced the additional of Matt Fordham and Shizu Yohena to the 2021 roster. The pair joins five additional newcomers for the upcoming season.
Fordham (Groton, Mass.) was a two-year team captain at Groton Dunstable Regional High School, where he helped his squad to a 2020 Pod 7 Championship. The two-time all-state and Central Mass All-Star selection also earned the 2019 Mass State Cup MVP award. Fordham was tabbed the 2019 Midwach B Player of the Year and earned a pair of T&G Hometeam All-Star honors. He finished with 21 goals and 14 assists as a senior and played club ball with NEFC.
Yohena (Okinawa, Japan) played for both Shizuoka Gakuen High School and the San Diego Zest prior to arriving in Amherst. At San Diego, Yohena scored four goals and dished out three assists in 11 games for the Zest in USL League Two. The 2019 All-Western Conference team selection was also part of teams that claimed the regional championship in the summer of 2017 and reached the last 16 in a national tournament in Japan.
