Massachusetts Tennis Signs Renata Farima To National Letter of Intent

Native of Moldova will join UMass tennis program in the Fall, 2021

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis and head coach Juancarlos Nunez announced the signing of Renata Farima to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday.

Farima hails from Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, and studied at Theoretical Lyceum Academic Copiilor. During her career, she has ranked as high as No. 363 in the ITF Junior Ranking and won the Moldovan Championships in the U18 and Women's categories.
 
"We are very happy to add Renata to our team for next season," said Nunez. "She has established herself as a top player in her home country and at the international level during her junior career in both singles and doubles. She is a very driven and passionate individual that will add a lot to our program and help us achieve our goals as a team. We can't wait to welcome her to UMass in the Fall."
 
Farima won singles and doubles championships at the J5 ITF Tournament in Tbilisi, Georgia, and was a finalist in the same events at the J5 ITF in Istanbul, Turkey. She also won a doubles title at the J2 ITF in Chisinau, Moldova, and finished runners-up at the J4 ITF in Liverpool, England.
 
Farima represented the Republic of Moldova at the Junior Eastern Championships and at the European Summer Cup, as well as at the European Youth Olympic Festival where she reached the Round of 32. She ranked No. 1 in Moldova in the U12, U14, U16, U18 and Women's categories.
