AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass Sports Luncheon Committee selected men's lacrosse junior Chris Connolly, women's track and field senior Emilie Cowan and women's lacrosse junior Caitlyn Petro as the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday. The committee will recognize Connolly, Cowan and Petro at the Wed., March 11 UMass Sports Luncheon at the Berkshire Dining Common from Noon - 1 p.m. The luncheon is open to the public to attend.

Connolly totaled eight points on four goals and four assists in a 17-12 win over UAlbany on Tues., March 3. He had a hand in five straight UMass goals (two scored, three assisted) as the Minutemen turned a 4-all tie game into a 9-5 advantage. After UAlbany closed within 10-9, Connolly assisted on a Gabriel Procyk goal and scored 17 seconds later as UMass bumped the lead back to 12-9. His eight points tied a single-game career high and jumped him into the top-25 in program history with 131 career points (23rd all-time).

Cowan won the 500 meter title at the ECAC Championships. She ran 1-minute, 11.68 seconds for the win and beating out Reanda Richards of Rutgers, a 2019 All-American outdoors and Big Ten champion for the title. Cowan's time ranks eighth in the world for 500 meters, the only collegian in the top-10.

Petro posted 17 draw controls to lead the Minutewomen to an 18-14 victory at Connecticut - their third straight road victory - on Saturday. Petro has a team-high 56 draw controls this season, which ranks 10th in the nation.

Women's lacrosse head coach Angela McMahon and rowing head coach Eric Carcich will be the guest speakers at Wednesday's luncheon.

Men's lacrosse concludes its current homestand with a Tues., March 10 tilt with LIU at Garber Field at 2 p.m. Women's lacrosse plays next at Towson on Sat., March 14 with a Noon game. Women's track and field continues its spring campaign with a trip to UCF's Black and Gold Challenge in Orlando, Florida, from Fri., March 20 - Sat., March 21.
