Game Notes Massachusetts

Need to Knows
• An important final week of the Atlantic 10 regular season continues Wednesday night as University of Massachusetts women's basketball visits Saint Joseph's for a 7 p.m. game inside Hagan Arena. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

• Massachusetts finds itself in the midst of an absolute jam in the Atlantic 10 standings, entering games of Feb. 25 in a four-way tie for fifth place with Davidson, Duquesne and Richmond. The league will announce final seedings for next week's championship on Sat., Feb. 29.

• The Minutewomen are looking to continue rolling after a 61-48 win over Davidson on Sat., Feb. 22. It ended a four-game losing streak for UMass and the result was thanks in part to a career-high 23 points from senior Vashnie Perry plus a double-double (12 points, career-high 17 rebounds) from junior Sam Breen.

• A win on Wednesday would give the Minutewomen back-to-back victories, in addition to sweeping the season series vs. Saint Joseph's. Led in part by three double-digit scorers, UMass claimed the Jan. 11 meeting of these sides at the Mullins Center by a 61-43 score.

• In addition, a Wednesday night victory would propel UMass to 18 wins on the season, tying the squad for the third-most in program history. It would mark the first time since 1997-98 that as many has been collected in a single campaign.

• Breen entered the starting lineup on Jan. 29 vs. Richmond in a nationally-televised win and continues to make a splash. The Feb. 3 Atlantic 10 Player of the Week contributed at least 20 points in each of her first five starts, becoming the first Minutewoman since at least 1997-98 to accomplish such a feat.

• Leidel moved up to No. 3 on the Massachusetts all-time career scoring list in the game at George Washington on Jan. 26. The Brownstown, Mich. native (1,781) needs 10 points to tie former Minutewoman Octavia Thomas (1992-96; 1,791 points) for No. 2 on the list. She has made at least one three-point field goal in 31 of her last 32 games dating back to Feb. 24, 2019.

• Freshman Maeve Donnelly's 69th block of the season on Feb. 22 reset the Massachusetts program record of 68, previously held by Maggie Mulligan (2017-18) and Kate Mills (2007-08). Donnelly's 69 stops are second in the Atlantic 10, lead A-10 rookies and either tie or exceed four entire team totals in the league.

• Massachusetts closes out the regular season with a Senior Day matchup vs. Rhode Island on Sat., Feb. 29 at noon in the Mullins Center. The Atlantic 10 Conference will announce tournament seedings following Saturday's games.
