Eberl, Kössler Named UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

The pair was recognized for their performances on the field this past week.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's soccer graduate student Eric Eberl and women's soccer freshman Melissa Kössler were named the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week presented by UMassFive College Credit Union on Tuesday afternoon.
Eberl (Vienna, Austria) scored the game-winning goal in the season opening win over Northeastern in Brookline on Friday afternoon. The graduate student found the back of the net for his first UMass goal in the 50th minute, heading one home into the top right corner of the net to help send the Minutemen to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Huskies.
Kössler (Potsdam, Germany) scored both goals, including the game winner in the 87th minute, in UMass' 2-1 win over Pitt in the squad's 2019 Rudd Field debut this past Sunday on her way to earning Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week honors. The victory was the first for UMass over an ACC opponent since 1989.
