AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Athletics Department announced details of the upcoming videoboard addition to Richard F. Garber Field, the home of the UMass men's and women's lacrosse programs, on Friday. The new high-definition Daktronics videoboard is set to be installed this summer in anticipation of the 2020 men's and women's lacrosse seasons.

"This is an exciting enhancement for our lacrosse programs that will change the experience for student-athletes, alumni and fans at Garber Field," said Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford. "We are grateful for all the alumni support, specifically our LaxBackers group, in fundraising for this and numerous other facility and programmatic initiatives which have come to fruition over the years. Their leadership and support of the programs have allowed us to make critical investments that enhance the student-athlete experience and directly impact the success we are able to have."

The latest upgrade to the home for UMass lacrosse will measure 21 feet, 10.8 inches in height and 32 feet, 8.8 inches in width and will replace the current scoreboard present along the venue's South end. It will also feature an enhanced sound system from Daktronics further adding to the gameday experience for student-athletes and fans.

"We cannot thank the UMass Men's Lacrosse LaxBackers and Kelley Carr enough for their tremendous, continuous support in our fundraising efforts to provide the addition of a videoboard to our gameday environment" said men's lacrosse head coach Greg Cannella. "We are looking forward to continuing to enhance Richard F. Garber Field and to seeing the videoboard up this summer."

The addition of a high-definition videoboard to the fan experience at Garber Field was made possible primarily through fundraising efforts by and donations from members of UMass LaxBackers, the official support group for UMass men's lacrosse.

"This enhancement is the next evolution of our gameday atmosphere at what is inarguably one of the top venues for lacrosse in the Atlantic 10 and the Northeast," said women's lacrosse head coach Angela McMahon. "We're so grateful to our administration for continually finding ways to support our programs and to those who have helped make these projects become reality through their financial support."
