Lauren Bonavita, Christan Labeck and John Leonard will be honored at the weekly luncheon Wednesday.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's soccer sophomore Lauren Bonavita, men's soccer senior Christian Labeck, and hockey junior John Leonard were named the UMass Student-Athletes of the week presented by UMassFive College Credit Union. The three will be recognized at the weekly luncheon on Wednesday afternoon that will feature guest speakers hockey head coach Greg Carvel and football run game coordinator and co-offensive line coach Jim Jackson.

Bonavita (Hanson, Mass.) scored in both matches she played in last week to extend her goal scoring streak to four games, helping UMass to a 1-1-0 mark to finish the regular season third in the Atlantic 10 standings, its best finish since 2000. It's the second time this season that she has scored in four consecutive games. Bonavita is second on the team with 21 points (10 goals, one assist) and she, along with teammate Melissa Kossler, are the first Minutewomen duo since 1988 to reach double-digit goals in a season.

Labeck (Charlestown, Mass.) scored twice to help keep UMass in the Atlantic 10 Tournament hunt as they picked up a 3-2 road win at La Salle on Saturday. The senior converted from the penalty spot in the 54th-minute to regain the lead back for the Minutemen after the game was deadlocked at halftime. Labeck scored again in the 68th-minute to stretch the league to two goals, bending a shot into the top right corner of goal from outside of the 18-yard box on a Minuteman attack.

Leonard (Amherst, Mass.) put home two goals in the Minutemen's 4-1 win over American International on Friday to help UMass improved to 4-1-0 on the season with a perfect 4-0-0 mark at home. His first goal of the night broke a 1-1 deadlock with three minutes to go in regulation and would end up as the game-winner. Leonard added an empty net goal for his third career multi-goal game while helping the UMass penalty kill go a perfect 7-of-7 against the Yellow Jackets, which included killing off a five-minute AIC power play with two full minutes of 5-on-3.
