Isabella Goes Right To... Ludicrous Speed!
• Over his last 28 games played, Andy Isabella has 2,186 of his 2,193 career receiving yards and 150 of his 152 career receptions playing mainly as a starter at wide receiver. It equates to an average of 5.3 receptions per game and 78.1 yards per appearance.
• The 5-foot-10, 195-pound Isabella posted 75 or more receiving yards in 16 of those 28 games, with 100 or more in seven contests. He leads the team lead with 20 touchdown receptions in that span, the third-most in program history.
Young Gets Purposeful
• Running back Marquis Young eclipsed 1,000 all-purpose yards for the third consecutive season in 2018 with a career-best 1,503 via 982 rushing yards, 280 receiving yards and 241 kick return yards. It equated to a team-high 125.3 all-purpose yards per game in 2017.
• He owns 4,166 all-purpose yards for his career as he posted 1,031 as a freshman in 2015 (85.9 per game) and capped 2016 with 1,045, an average of 87.1 per game. Young opened 2018 with 587 all-purpose yards combined against Duquesne (115), at Boston College (175) and at Georgia Southern (97) and at FIU (200).
Ford Does Record Book Numbers
• Quarterback Andrew Ford stands among the career record-holders in eight categories: pass completion percentage (2nd; 62.1), passer efficiency rating (3rd; 144.2), passing yards per game (2nd; 233.7), passing touchdowns (3rd; 50), pass completions (4th; 494), average yards per pass (4th; 7.6), passing yards (4th; 6,075) and passing attempts (4th; 796).
• Ford ranks in the top-five in all categories despite not standing among the top 10 in interceptions thrown as his 21 tossed over his 26 career games is still one away from being tied with four Minutemen for ninth all-time.
Fredericks' Field Vision
• Redshirt junior running back Jordan Fredericks earned his first time at UMass vs. Boston College, Georgia Southern and FIU with 177 total yards and two total touchdowns.
• Fredericks finished the game at Boston College with four carries for 21 yards as well as two receptions for 18 yards. He had a 16-yard touchdown catch on third down in that game. The transfer from Syracuse University added seven carries for 34 yards, including a one-yard touchdown plunge, and two catches for 30 yards at Georgia Southern. He added 74 yards on only seven rushing attempts at FIU, an average of 10.6 yards per carry.
I Came To Bring The Pain
• Middle linebacker Bryton Barr posted 17 tackles in the loss at Boston College, including 10 solo stops. It reset Barr's single-game career-high for total tackles, which was previously 15 against vs. Appalachian State [2OT] on Oct. 28, 2017.
• The last Minuteman with 17+ stops in a game was Jovan Santos-Knox, who posted 20 vs. No. 19 Toledo on Oct. 24, 2015.
Behaving Ourselves
• Massachusetts ranks among the least-penalized teams in the country during 2018, and is seventh in fewest penalty yards per game (33.25) and 21st in fewest penalties per game (4.75). Both are the best numbers of head coach Mark Whipple's current tenure (2014-present).
