UMass Gives Unites Athletics Community In Support

Additional funding allocated to Student-Athlete Alumni Donor Challenge
AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts is hosting its 2018 UMass Gives event from Thurs., April 26 - Fri., April 27 and support for the flagship campus' varsity athletics programs is again at the forefront of the donation drive. With the event entering its final hours on Friday afternoon, and 100 percent donation efforts secured across all head coaches and athletics senior administrators, Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford announced additions to the on-going Student-Athlete Alumni Participation Challenge.

Student-Athlete Alumni Challenge
UMass Athletics and the Minutemen Club encourage all former student-athletes to get involved in UMass Gives. If you played a sport at UMass, and make a gift during UMass Gives, you will be counted towards your program's overall total for the two-day Student-Athlete Alumni Challenge.
There are several teams vying for the top spot in our Student-Athlete Alumni Challenge. To ignite the competition, more funding is now available to support this challenge. The program with the highest percentage of donations over the two-day span will unlock a challenge gift of $6,500 that will go directly to support the current team and student-athletes. The programs with the four next highest levels will also receive funding.Â
First Place: $6,500
Second Place: $4,000
Third Place: $2,000
Fourth Place: $1,000
Fifth Place: $500

There are two primary steps to participating in UMass Gives and growing the campus-wide effort:
1.     Make a gift to UMass Athletics that day by visiting the UMass Athletics 2018 UMass Gives Donation Page.
2.     Post that you participated on social media and encourage others to do so on your social media accounts and use the hashtags UMassGives and UniteTheMasses.

The goal for the athletics department is to raise $150,000 from 1,500 donors over the two-day span of UMass Gives. By Friday at Noon, UMass Athletics had already raised $107,100 from more than 900 donors. The money raised through the Minutemen Club (MMC) and UMass Athletics each year is invested in student-athlete support and the general athletics operating budget.
