Kirsten Britton Named Senior Associate Director of Athletics

Britton will oversee sport administration and serve as Senior Woman Administrator.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford announced Friday the hiring of Kirsten Britton as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Sport Administration. Britton will also serve as the department's Senior Woman Administrator beginning her tenure at UMass on Feb. 20, 2018.

"Kirsten has a wonderful background in college athletics at peer institutions which will be a great asset to the University of Massachusetts. Given her work experiences and excitement for our goals as an athletics department, she is a tremendous fit to help drive academic and competitive excellence for our 21 sport teams." Â Â

Britton joins UMass after serving as the Associate Director of Athletics for facilities, operations and events for Holy Cross since February 2016.

At Holy Cross, Britton was part of the senior staff of the athletic department with primary responsibilities of providing leadership and oversight to the facilities, operations and events staff. She had oversight of the $95 million Hart Center Expansion & Renovation Project and managed all athletics facilities, game operations and outside events for Holy Cross, in addition to overseeing the cross country and track and field programs.

Before her time in Worcester, Britton worked at the University of Connecticut from 2012-2016 serving as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Event Management. While at UConn, Britton provided leadership, planning and event management for 24 varsity sport programs, while adhering to the NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations.

Britton also acted as the Tournament Director for the NCAA Women's Basketball First and Second Rounds in Storrs, Conn., as well as providing all operational logistics for the UConn women's basketball Final Four appearances in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Prior to her time at UConn, Britton was the Assistant Director of Event Management at Boston College for six years, where she oversaw the event management for the Eagles' 18 varsity sport programs. She began her athletics administration career as an intern in the University at Albany athletics department.

Britton is a 2003 graduate of Providence College with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. She went on to earn her master's degree in Athletic Administration at Springfield College in 2007.
