HE'S THE FASTEST KID ALIVE
• Andy Isabella reset the Massachusetts record with 303 receiving yards against Liberty on nine receptions, including two for touchdowns. It marked the first 300+ receiving yard game since the 2016 season across NCAA Division I FBS.
• Isabella had touchdown receptions of 61 and 89 yards, and added additional "big-gain" plays of 21, 48 and 58 yards.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound pass-catcher out of Mayfield, Ohio, currently ranks first in FBS for total receiving yards this season (1,479), second for yards per game (134.5), second in receptions per game (7.9) and tied for fourth in touchdown catches (11).
Express Lane Offense
• Massachusetts has 12 scoring drives lasting 60 seconds or less through 11 games of the 2018 season.
• It ranks UMass tied for eighth in the country alongside UCF. Utah State leads FBS with 24 such drives, followed by Alabama (21). Clemson (16), Illinois (16), Memphis (15), Syracuse (14) and Houston (13) rank ahead of the Minutemen.
The Curious Case of Bryton Barr
• Graduate student middle linebacker Bryton Barr is second among all NCAA FBS players in total tackles (147) and sixth for tackles per game (12.5) through 11 games. Barr had at least 10 tackles in nine games, including at Boston College (17), at Georgia Southern (10), at FIU (15), Charlotte (21), at Ohio (11), USF (10), Coastal Carolina (11), Liberty (12) and BYU (14).
• During his 23 games with UMass, Barr averages 10.5 tackles per game (242 total). He made at least 10 stops in 14 outings.
• Barr is in his seventh season of collegiate football and second with the Minutemen. He was a member of the Towson football program from 2012-16 before he transferred to Massachusetts ahead of the 2017 campaign. Barr went 1,091 consecutive days between games played due to back-to-back-to-back injuries at Towson spanning from Sept. 8, 2013 through Sept. 3, 2016.
Defense Moves It Downfield
• Massachusetts brought back its 12 interceptions for 252 return yards, already the fifth-most interception return yards in program history and the most in a single FBS season for the team. The 252 return yards came on seven of the team's 12 interceptions, an average of 36.0 yards per return.
