Anderson, Paparo Named Student-Athletes of the Week
April 19, 2017 | General, Men's Lacrosse, Women's Lacrosse
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Athletics has selected Kiley Anderson and Isaac Paparo as its Student-Athletes of the Week for April 10-16.
Â
Anderson, a redshirt sophomore from Killingworth, Connecticut, had a big weekend offensively as she paced women's lacrosse to a pair of road wins at La Salle (25-10) and at St. Bonaventure (19-5) as the Minutewomen remained undefeated in Atlantic 10 play. She notched 10 goals, controlled two draws and added one groundball overall. She scored a career-high five goals in both games while adding the two draw controls at La Salle and the groundball at St. Bonaventure. Her five goals in the win over the Bonnies came on just six shots.
Â
Paparo, a sophomore from Westport, Connecticut, made impact plays on both ends of the field as the Minutemen won their second CAA game of the year, 12-8, over Fairfield on Saturday. He caused three turnovers and picked up four groundballs on the defensive side while he scored on his only shot of the game. Paparo was tasked with stopping Fairfield's leading scorer Colin Burke (30 points, 20 goals, 10 assists), the 2015 CAA Co-Player and Rookie of the Year and 2016 CAA Preseason Player of the Year, and held him to just one goal and one assist. Paparo scored for the first time of the year during a transition play when he weaved his way through the Fairfield midfield and defense and reared back for a goal that made it 10-5 in the fourth quarter.
