Minutemen In The A-10s
UMass is making its 41st all-time appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Minutemen are 36-35 in the tournament, with titles won in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996, during which the Minutemen went on a 15-game winning streak to notch the five straight championships. Last time out, Massachusetts reached the 2016 Atlantic 10 Quartertinals as the No. 10 seeded Minutemen downed No. 7 Rhode Island, 67-62, in the second round before they fell to No. 2 VCU, 85-70 the next day.

Hines' Buckets & Boards In Bonnies
Malik Hines notched his first collegiate double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds at St. Bonaventure. Hines shot 7-of-11 overall with a free throw for his 15 points. He split his boards between seven on the offensive glass and six in the defensive half. It marked single game career highs in points and rebounds for the sophomore forward. He is the second active Minuteman with a double-double, alongside fellow big man Rashaan Holloway (3).

Lewis Explores Scoring Records vs. La Salle
Redshirt junior guard Zach Lewis poured in 37 points in the 84-71 victory over La Salle on Feb. 25. It was the most by an Atlantic 10 men's basketball player in 2016-17, the third-highest total in the Mullins Center's history and tied for the sixth-greatest total in UMass men's basketball history. Lewis was 9-of-16 overall and a perfect 13-for-13 at the foul line.

3-Lew
Zach Lewis balanced his 37-point effort against La Salle between 13 made free throws and nine made field goals, which included six 3-point conversions. It is the second-most made 3-pointers by a Minuteman this season, behind only the eight Luwane Pipkins poured in against Kennesaw State. Lewis had made at least one 3-pointer in eight consecutive games. He has at least one made in 23 games, including multiple in nine contests.

The Senior Night Honorees
UMass will recognize walk-on forward Zach Turcotte and team managers Ryan Chiasson and Derek Schulman before the March 1 contest against Richmond. Turcotte joined the team prior to his sophomore season and has appeared in 11 games. Derek, the lead manager, and Ryan assist the program in all facets of operation management in practice and on game day.

The Late-Season Line Change
Head coach Derek Kellogg switched his starting lineup ahead of the game against La Salle and placed C.J. Anderson (G), Zach Lewis (G), Tyrn Flowers (F), Malik Hines (F) and Brison Gresham (C/F) in for the opening tipoff. It marked the first collegiate starts for Flowers and Hines. The quintet has subsequently started against Richmond and at St. Bonaventure. They replaced DeJon Jarreau (G), Luwane Pipkins (G), Donte Clark (G), Seth Berger (F) and Rashaan Holloway (C).

Zach Lewis 1,000-Points Watch
Zach Lewis is 10 points shy of 1,000 for his collegiate career, including the two seasons he spent at Canisius College. Lewis' year-by-year scoring breaks down to 303 points as a freshman at Canisius (9.5 per game), 414 during her sophomore year (12.5) in 2014-15 and 273 through 31 appearances (8.8) at UMass in 2016-17.

He would become the second Minuteman to reach 1,000 career points this season, alongside junior Donte Clark (1,224), should he reach quadruple digits during the Atlantic 10 Championship. Clark eclipsed 1,000 career points during the win over Rider on Thurs., Dec. 22 and is the active leading scorer on the team.

Up, Up And Away
Three members of the UMass program have improved upon their field goal percentage during each of their three or more seasons competing for the program, including C.J. Anderson, Seth Berger and Donte Clark.

Anderson hit 33.3 percent of his field goals as a freshman, improved to 37.3 as a sophomore and currently owns the highest field goal percentage among guard this season at 49.5 percent. Berger, who missed all but eight games of the 2014-15 season due to injury, started his tenure with a 33.3 rate in 2013-14, converted 37.5 percent during limited time as a sophomore, returned to the lineup with 50.4 percent as a redshirt junior in 2015-16 and currently averages 50.8 percent this season.

Clark, the most prolific active scorer, hit 39.1 percent of his attempts as a freshman in 2014-15. He followed with 41.0 percent in 2015-16 and drains 41.1 percent of his attempts in 2016-17.

Baldwin-ning On The Boards
Freshman forward Chris Baldwin had a career-high 10 rebounds at George Washington, including eight defensive boards. It makes Baldwin only the second Minuteman to reach double-figures in the category this season (Rashaan Holloway, three times). Each of Baldwin's three best rebounding efforts came during Atlantic 10 play (10 at George Washington, nine vs. St. Bonaventure, seven at VCU & at St. Bonaventure).

Beating Cancer, One 3-Pointer At A Time
UMass men's basketball made 10 3-pointers in their first of nine Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Challenge games at La Salle. It equated to $502.90 dollars pledged for donation to the American Cancer Society and Coaches vs. Cancer. The Minutemen finished 11th in the nation for donations raised among the 209 participating teams.
