Australian striker joins Minutemen after standout junior college career.

AMHERST, Mass. – One of the top junior college strikers from California, rising junior Jack Fulton (Sydney, Australia) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the UMass men's soccer program as announced by head coach Fran O'Leary today.

Fulton played the last two seasons at Feather River College in Quincy, Calif., where he helped the Golden Eagles produce a 31-6-6 record over the last two seasons.

"We are delighted to welcome Jack to UMass. To compete at the highest levels of the Atlantic 10, we are looking to improve our offensive output and he is an attacking player with the capability of scoring consistently," said O'Leary.

"Jack played at a high level in Australia and was a prolific goal scorer at the junior college level in California," said O'Leary. "A two-footed striker, he is strong in the air and comfortable in possession. An out-and-out striker, we will look for him to immediately make a contribution on the attacking end of the field."

In each of the last two seasons, Fulton was the top goal scorer in the Golden Valley Conference with 13 in 2015 and 26 last season which tied him for the most in the state.

An All-California selection, the 6-foot striker was also a two-time first-team All-GVC selection, named to the All-Northern California Team, and was the MVP of the GVC Conference (2016).

Prior to joining Feather River, Fulton was a standout at Westfield Sports High School in Sydney earning a pair of NSW Championships. He was twice the top goal scorer in the conference and in 2014 was selected to the Australian Under 19 National Team.

Fulton is the fourth newcomer announced for the men's soccer program for the 2017 season. During the early signing period, in February, the Minutemen also received commitments from Christian Carucci (Staten Island, N.Y.), Eli Cronin (Boxford, Mass.), and Davis Smith (Amherst, Mass.).

This past fall, UMass finished fourth in the Atlantic 10 regular-season standings after being picked to place 10th in the preseason poll. In O'Leary's second-year, the Minutemen posted a 4-2-2 record in league play to qualify for the A-10 Tournament for the second consecutive season - the first back-to-back postseason appearance for UMass since 2007-08.

The Minutemen ranked as the No. 1 defense in A-10 matches having conceded just four goals against league foes. The group didn't allow a single goal at home in four league games going 3-0-1 at Rudd Field.
