Massachusetts Department Of Athletics Opens Survey On Fan Engagement

December 05, 2017 | General, Athletics Department

Goal of survey is to measure and identify ways to enhance fan experience.

AMHERST, Mass. – In its efforts to continue the enhancement of fan experience surrounding events, the University of Massachusetts Department of Athletics has opened a survey to all fans and friends of the program to assess levels of engagement and to receive feedback to improve customer service.

This survey will measure motivations for attending events, degree of fandom, degree of satisfaction, preferences for receiving information, and suggestions for future associated communication and promotional activities. It will be open for two weeks and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Fans who are already in UMass' databases of season-ticket holders, ticket purchasers, booster club members and email service will automatically receive the link to the survey, but it is important that every fan who wants to take part in the survey can provide feedback. For those who wish to take the survey and did not receive it in their email inbox please use this link: http://bit.ly/2A70xuW

"This exercise will allow us to aggregate information from every corner of the map of our fan base," said Associate Athletic Director for Sales & Fan Experience Alan Pandiani. "From there we will be able to analyze where we need to be more intentional in terms of how and where we are communicating, and in what manner we are deploying that communication. Our research findings from this initiative will be put into practice on a daily basis."

In addition to knowing what fans enjoy about UMass events or their specific feedback to the gameday experience, knowing desired preferences of communication is also critical.

"With the various platforms and methods of communicating with our fans, this survey will help us specifically target the ways we can reach out the best as we promote the University of Massachusetts," said Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Public Relations John Sinnett. "We want to find the most meaningful and impactful ways we can reach our fans so they feel connected. This will also allow us to enhance our customer service capabilities which we hope only adds to their enjoyment on gameday."

Fans are encouraged to complete the survey within a week of receipt to their email inbox, and for those participating, there are 12 Massachusetts Athletics official sponsor prizes that will be randomly distributed to participants who provide complete responses – Four gift cards to Dunkin Donuts, four gift cards to Texas Roadhouse, and four gift cards to Big Y Food Market (all in denominations of $25).

Findings from this survey will be extremely valuable to Massachusetts Athletics at all levels for the 2018 calendar year and beyond. Your thoughtful and honest feedback is needed and is appreciated in advance.
