GENEVA, Ohio - In the final event of day one, the UMass men's swimming and diving team pulled off a first-place finish in the 800 free relay to move into first place at the Atlantic 10 Championships host at the SPIRE Institute. The Minutemen took first place following the evening session with a team score of 115 points, 17 more than second-place St. Bonaventure.

The relay team of Owen Wright, Brian Stiles, Oliver Wyeth, and Alessandro Bomprezzi took first in 6 minutes, 32.37 seconds - just 0.51 second off the pace of the program record for the event.

The Minutemen started the day with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay with a school-record time of 1-minute, 29.61 seconds. The new mark was set by the foursome of Kellen Gray, Alex Mesisca, Tommy Brennan, and Wiktor Karpinski.

The only other event of the day was the men's one-meter dive where Trent Kindvall placed third with a score of 285.90 points in the final. Nolan Burns placed sixth (261.65 points), while Robert Barry placed seventh (261.35 points).

Following the Minutemen in the standings are St. Bonaventure and La Salle (98), Saint Louis and George Washington (70), George Mason (67), Davidson (56) and Fordham (30).

Thursday's action will resume at 10 a.m. for the preliminary races, while the evenings finals will start at 6:30 p.m.
