QB Michael Curtis Begins 2017 Signing Class

AMHERST, Mass. – Quarterback Michael Curtis is the first member of University of Massachusetts football's 2017 Signing Class, it was announced by head coach Mark Whipple on Monday. Curtis has signed his National Letter of Intent and will enroll in classes in January 2017.

Curtis, a native of Richardson, Texas and a graduate of Prime Prep Academy, spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas. He enters the 2017 season with the Minutemen as a redshirt sophomore with three years to play three seasons.

In 2016, Curtis threw for 2,311yards and 24 touchdowns. He completed 190 of 320 attempted passes, with just six interceptions, in 12 games played. He also rushed for 593 yards and five scores. Curtis paced the Cardinal to an 11-1 showing, a SWJCFC Championship and a 34-24 Heart of Texas Bowl victory over Northwest Mississippi Community College.
