Hawkshaw, Goncalves Named Student-Athletes of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Athletics has selected Sarah Hawkshaw and Ty Goncalves as its Student-Athletes of the Week for Oct. 31-Nov. 6.

Hawkshaw, a junior from Dublin, Ireland, totaled three goals and one assist during UMass' Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championship run. She was named A-10 Championship Most Outstanding Player and A-10 All-Tournament Team. The Minutewomen face Monmouth in the NCAA Play-In Game, Wed., Nov. 9, at 1 p.m.

Goncalves, a senior from Norwood, Massachusetts, paced men's soccer to a 1-1 showing in the final week of the A-10 regular season. The midfielder tallied a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win at second-ranked Fordham on the road to help secure the fourth seed in the A-10 Tournament. The Minutemen open tourney play with VCU on Thurs., Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
