HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Louisiana Tech and Massachusetts traded first quarter touchdowns en route to a 7-7 score after one quarter. Ryan Higgins hit Carlos Henderson for a 50-yard score on the Bulldogs' opening drive before Marquis Young rushed in from nine yards away to even it at 7-all with six minutes, 12 seconds to go in the frame.
  • Higgins connected with Henderson again during LA Tech's next scoring drive before Kam McKnight rumbled in from three yards away for a 21-7 Bulldogs lead entering the final minutes of the half.
  • Andrew Ford found Dan Jonah open in the left corner of the endzone on an 18-yard touchdown reception as UMass cut the deficit to 21-14 only 58 seconds later, but Higgins against found Henderson with just 10 seconds to play in the second to make it 28-14 at the break.
  • Ford completed his second touchdown toss as the Minutemen fought back to within 28-21 on John Robinson-Woodgett's first career score. It immediately followed up a Colbert Calhoun forced fumble and Peter Angeh fumble recovery that gave the Minutemen the ball at the LA Tech 14 yard line.
  • LA Tech responded with back-to-back scores on an 83-yard Higgins-to-Henderson reception before Russell Farris returned a fumble 19 yards to make it 42-21 with 11:08 to go in the third.
  • The Bulldogs added two more touchdowns, including Henderson's fifth of the game, before Massachusetts capped scoring with a five-yard touchdown grab by Andy Isabella.
