Game Notes • Offense
• Tajae Sharpe reset the UMass football career receptions record during the loss with 11 grabs covering 156 yards. Sharpe now owns 188 career receptions, one more than the previous record-holder, Adrian Zullo.
• The 156-yard game by Sharpe was his sixth contest with at least 100 receiving yards and fourth with more than 150 yards through the air. Each of his six career games with 100+ receiving yards occurred during the previous 10 UMass contests.
• Rodney Mills hauled in his first four receptions of the season against Temple, the opening two of which went for touchdowns.
• Mills’ first catch covered 48 yards on fourth down while his second was a five-yard slant. The two TD grabs gave him his second career multi-touchdown contest. His first two-score game was against Vanderbilt on Sept. 13, 2014.
• Mills also reset his career high for receiving yards in a game against Temple with 104. His previous best was 76 during his two-TD game against Vanderbilt.
• Blake Frohnapfel finished with 393 passing yards and three touchdowns thrown. It marks his sixth game with at least 300 yards through the air and also his sixth with three or more passing touchdowns.
• Jamal Wilson’s receiving touchdown was the first of his career. He finished the day with a career-high-tying four receptions for 54 yards, including the 16-yard TD scamper.
Game Notes • Defense
• Khary Bailey-Smith picked off P.J. Walker during the second quarter. The interception of the first for UMass in the 2015 season and Bailey-Smith’s eighth of his career.
• Kelton Brackett followed Bailey-Smith with Brackett’s first interception as a Minuteman. It went as the second career pick for Brackett and first since the 2013 season when he was a sophomore at Alabama-Birmingham.
• Jovan Santos-Knox led the defense with 11 tackles, including a career-high 3.0 TFLs for 11 yards lost, including a seven-yard sack.
• The UMass defense limited Temple to 67 rushing yards over the contest for an average of 1.8 per run. The Owls entered the day recording 4.6 yards per attempt (364 yards, 79 rushes).
• The Maroon and White run defense held Temple leading running back Jahad Thomas to 66 yards on 25 attempts (2.6 per rush). Thomas entered the game with 328 yards over 55 attempts (6.0 per run).
• John Robinson-Woodgett notched his first career forced fumble against the Owls. Kelton Brackett picked up the loose ball for his first fumble recovery.
Game Notes • Special Teams & Miscellaneous
• Blake Lucas converted his first field goal attempt of the season during the second quarter as he put through a 34-yard try that brought UMass within 14-10 of Temple.
• Logan Laurent averaged 42.4 yards over nine punts covering 382 yards. One of his nine punts was downed at the Temple one yard line while another went for a touchback.
• Bailey-Smith, Frohnapfel, Santos-Knox and Sharpe served as game captains for the Minutemen against Temple.
• UMass won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball to start the game.
• UMass had an honorary captain for the game, new University of Massachusetts president Marty Meehan.
