May 26, 2015 | Men's Basketball
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference unveiled the home and away league match-ups for the 2015-16 men's basketball season on Tuesday.
The 18-game slate will see each team play the other 13 teams once, with five of those in a home-and-home series. This marks the second-consecutive season with this format.
UMass is slated to face Fordham, La Salle, Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's and St. Bonaventure - the five league schools located the closest to Amherst - both home and away. The Minutemen will also see George Mason, George Washington, Saint Louis and VCU visit the Mullins Center, along with road contests against Davidson, Dayton, Duquesne and Richmond.
UMass, which went 5-4 at home and 5-4 on the road a year ago in league play, has compiled a 23-10 home record in A-10 regular-season play over the past four seasons and 15-18 away from Amherst.
UMass is coming off a 17-15 season - its fourth-consecutive winning campaign - and has participated in postseason play in three of the last four years. The Minutemen will return seven letter winners and two starters from a year ago.
Head coach Derek Kellogg is entering his eighth year at his alma mater and has registered 126 career victories. The Springfield, Mass. native stands third in victories on the school's career coaching list behind legends Jack Leaman and his mentor John Calipari.
The complete 2015-16 A-10 schedule with dates, times and television assignments will be announced at a later date.
