No. 22 Dartmouth Edges Past Tennis 4-3

HANOVER, N.H. - The UMass women's tennis team picked up two big wins in double play on Thursday night, but No. 22 Dartmouth posted four victories in singles play to take the dual match 4-3 at the Boss Tennis Center.
The Minutewomen fall to 4-3 on the season, while Dartmouth remains unblemished at 11-0.
UMass started off the match by winning the doubles point. No. 1 pair Ana Yrazusta and Carol Benito knocked off Taylor Ng and Kristina Mathis, who are ranked 60th nationally, 6-4. Chanel Glasper and Anna Woosley won at No. 4 doubles 6-4 as well giving the Minutewomen the match-opening point.
The win for Yrazusta and Benito improves the pair, who rank 10th in the Northeast Region, to 14-4 overall this season including 6-1 in dual matches.
The Big Green rallied to win four of the six matches in singles play picking up victories at the No. 1, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
Yrazusta won in straight sets at No. 2 singles (6-3, 7-5), while Woosley picked up a win at No. 4 singles in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 10-6).
The win for Yrazusta improves the freshman to 11-6 overall and 5-2 in dual matches. Woosley continues to have a fantastic sophomore campaign with a 13-4 overall singles record and a 4-1 mark in dual matches.
The Minutewomen will return to action this Sunday when UMass hosts Atlantic 10 foe Fordham at the Bay Road Tennis Center (12:30 PM). The event will be one of two Black Out matches for the tennis program with the first 20 fans receiving a free UMass Tennis t-shirt. Admission is free to all.
