Frohnapfel, Sparks Earn MAC Honors

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts seniors Blake Frohnapfel and Matt Sparks, members of the football program, have been named 2015 Mid-American Conference Distinguished Scholar-Athletes. The league totaled 46 selections in football.
The Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Award is given to students who have excelled in athletics and academics. Following each season from the fall sports schedule, any student with a 3.20 GPA and participation in at least 50 percent of the contests was automatically named to the previously announced Academic All-MAC Team.
Senior Matt Sparks was one of nine three-time 2015 Academic All-MAC honorees. He will graduate in May with degree in civil engineering and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.8. He played 40 career games at center.
A two-time Academic All-MAC honoree, quarterback Blake Frohnapfel will earn his master's in business and sport management in May. He holds a 3.67 cumulative GPA and was a 2015 finalist for the National Football Foundation's William V. Campbell Trophy.
