Blake Frohnapfel Awarded NYAC Endowed Scholarship

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts quarterback Blake Frohnapfel is the recipient of the 2015 New York Athletic Club Endowed Scholar-Athlete Award, chosen as one of the Northeast region’s premiere football players and epitomizes the NYAC’s standards of sporting excellence, it was announced on Monday. The NYAC Scholar-Athlete Award endows his National Football Foundation scholarship.
One of 12 finalists for the National Football Foundation’s William V. Campbell Trophy, presented by Fidelity Investments, Frohnapfel will be honored as the NYAC Endowed Scholar-Athlete at a reception on Wed., Dec. 9, in New York. Frohnapfel will also attend the 58th NFF Annual Awards Ceremonies, in New York, Mon.-Tues., Dec. 7-8. He was announced as one of 12 William V. Campbell Trophy Finalists on Oct. 29.
With magna cum laude honors, Frohnapfel earned his undergraduate degrees in finance and economics from Marshall University in May 2014. Finishing in just three years, he earned a GPA of 3.65. He is currently a full-time MBA/MS student in UMass' Isenberg School of Management Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management with a 3.67 graduate GPA.
Frohnapfel finished the 2015 season completing 266 of 472 attempted passes for 2,919 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also rushed for one touchdown. He is one of four UMass quarterbacks to ever throw for more than 5,000 career passing yards and one of three to throw for more than 6,000 career passing yards.
