AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts senior Tajae Sharpe has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, presented annually to the season's outstanding college receiver at any position.
Through 10 games played, Sharpe leads the nation in total receptions (99) and receptions per game (9.9). He totals 1,100 yards (No. 2 in the MAC, no. 7 in FBS) and 110.0 yards per game (No. 2 in the MAC, No. 7 in FBS). Sharpe boasts a streak of 45 consecutive games with a reception (No. 3 in FBS among active players).
Sharpe is Massachusetts’ all-time leader in single-game receptions (15; Oct. 3 vs. FIU), single-season receptions (99; 2015), career receptions (265) and career receiving yards (3,267). He totals nine 100+ yard games in the previous 18 contests.
In its 22nd year, the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee is comprised of 320 distinguished voters. The creator and sponsor of the award is the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.
The Minutemen will host Miami (Ohio) on Sat., Nov. 21 at McGuirk Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on ESPN3 where Alex Faust and Matt Chatham will have the call.
