Anna Woosley Advances to ITA Regional Main Draw

HANOVER, N.H. - Junior Anna Woosley won a pair of matches in the qualifying draw of the ITA Northeast Regional Championships hosted by Dartmouth College advancing to Friday's main draw play. She will join UMass tennis freshman Ruth Crawford and sophomore Ana Yrazusta in the main draw of the regional championships.
Also in action on Thursday was junior Carol Benito who won her Round of 32 match before falling in the afternoon match. She will remain in action as part of the doubles main draw paired with Yrazusta.
Woosley, seeded third in the qualifying bracket, opened the day with a straight set win (6-2, 6-4) over Maria Tritou of Syracuse during the morning session. In the afternoon Round of 16, the West Sussex, England, native defeated Steph Elgegren of St. John's in straight sets (6-1, 6-2).
Benito opened the day with a win over Yelvzaveta Pietnveva of UConn winning the tie-breaker in the first set, 7-6, before closing out the second set 6-4.
In the Round of 16, she fell in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) to Dartmouth's Allison Chuang.
