It was a shootout at McGuirk Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Bowling Green narrowly defeated UMass 47-42 in the Minutemen's first game back on campus since 2011. Quarterback Blake Frohnapfel set school records with 589 yards through the air and five touchdowns, while Tajae Sharpe had 179 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
In all, the two teams combined for 200 plays on offense, racked up a combined 1,306 yards of total offense and put up 89 points.
UMass led 26-21 at halftime and 35-33 after the third quarter, but the Falcons scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth to take the go-ahead lead. The Minutemen had a chance late in the game, but a fumble turned the ball over to BGSU which ran out the final 1:46 on the clock.
