Dartmouth Sweeps Tennis In Away Match

HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth swept the Minutewomen 7-0 in non-conference action at the Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion. UMass (4-4) played in its first away match since the beginning of February. The Big Green (3-2) bested the Minutewomen for the second straight match and won their second home opener in the last three seasons.
Katherine Yau and Taylor Ng picked up the No. 1 doubles match, 8-2, for Dartmouth while Melissa Matsuoka and Akiko Okuda captured the No. 2 match, 8-5. UMass came up just short for the doubles point, as Aarzoo Malik and Jessica Podlofsky bested Dartmouth's Suzy Tan and Julienne Ying, 8-6, at No. 3.
In singles play, the Big Green tallied all six matches in straight sets. Katherine Yau and Taylor Ng remain undefeated in singles play, winning 6-3, 6-1, and 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
UMass returns to action on Friday, February 28 when the squad will face Fordham in its first conference match-up of the season. The Minutewomen will travel to New York, N.Y. for an 11 a.m. start time.
