Notes:

 

·      UMass hosted its first-ever mid week game at McGuirk Stadium

·      Game attendance was 13,374, the third most attended game for a mid-week game falling behind Akron at Buffalo (17,343) and Buffalo at Ohio (15,405) games

·      UMass and Ball State met for the third time in history. UMass now leads the all-time series 2-1

·      UMass wore all white uniforms for the first time this year

·      Today’s game captains for UMass were QB Blake Frohnapfel and LB Stanley Andre

·      Ball State won the coin toss and deferred its choice to the second half; UMass received the ball to start the first half

·      Heroes in Action Night occurred at McGuirk in honor of veterans, active military members and first responders

·      WR Tajae Sharpe started his 19th straight game and 28th of his career, while LB Stanley Andre started his 34th consecutive game and DB Randall Jette started his 33rd consecutive contest

·      UMass led the first-half 17-10 marking the 7th time this year to lead at intermission

·      UMass claimed a 24-10 victory over BSU; UMass is now 3-7, 3-3 MAC

·      The Minutemen’s victory over the Cardinals was the first win at McGuirk Stadium since October 8, 2011 when they beat Central Connecticut State University 42-26

 

·      Shadrach Abrokwah carried the ball 3 yards for his 8th career touchdown. This is the 5th time UMass scored in opening possession. It is the fastest opening possession touchdown drive of the season at 1:02.

·      Lorenzo Woodley made a 1 yard touchdown run to mark his 5th touchdown of the season and 7th for his career.

·      Logan Laurent made a 24 yard field goal, his fourth field goal in six attempts

·      Tajae Sharpe finished with a career high of 239 receiving yards and 13 receptions. This is the 3rd time this season Sharpe had 13 receptions in a single game. He now ranks #2 in pass reception yards in a single game, passing Adrian Zullo who had 210 yards against Richmond in 1999.

·      Sharpe's 76 pass receptions passes Kerry Taylor, moving him up to 4th for a single season at UMass.

·      With a total of 2,090 receiving yards, Sharpe now ranks 4th all-time at UMass in career history, tied with Julian Talley (08-11). 

·      Marken Michel had a 50-yard reception, which is the second time he had a 50+ yard reception in his career. Last time was against Indiana on Sept. 8, 2012 with 56 yards.

·      Blake Frohnapfel finished 28-of-44 for 424 yards - his fourth 400+ game this season, and fifth 300+ game.

·      Frohnapfel has 3,345 passing yards for the season, which moves him from 6th to 2nd best performance for a single season in UMass history. He is currently 574 yards away from tying for first with Todd Bankhead (3,919; 1998).

·      Frohnapfel also moved into 7th on the UMass career passing chart with 3,345 yards. He passed Greg Landry (3131, 1965-67) and Tim Day (3334, 2002-05).

·      Elgin Long carried for a 7 yard touchdown to record his first of the season, and the second of his career.

 

·      Trey Dudley-Giles moved from starting safety to corner, replacing Jackson Porter.

·      Khary Bailey-Smith started at safety in place of Trey Dudley-Giles.

·      Trey Seals recovered a fumble after a bad snap in the second-quarter; his second fumble recovery this season. The last time UMass recovered a fumble was October 4th at Miami (OH). He had a second career forced fumble. His last forced fumble was at Wisconsin 8/31/13. He also recorded a sack, making his season total 1.5 setting his personal career high in sacks. He returned his first career interception six yards in the fourth quarter. 

·      Khary Bailey-Smith recovered a fumble, recording his fourth career fumble recovery-third fumble recovery by UMass this season and second of the game.

·      Stanley Andre had 13 total tackles, his 6th career 10+ tackle game.

·      Jovan Santos-Knox recorded 14 total tackles, 6th career 10+ tackle game. Two tackles for loss, tying his career high set at Central Michigan in 2013.  Santos-Knox set a personal career high in pass breakups with two, giving him 8 pass breakups for his career.  He recorded a second career forced fumble with his last forced fumble at Ohio in 2013.

·      Trey Dudley-Giles recorded 10 tackles, tying his career high set at Ohio in 2013. Dudley-Giles also tied his career high in pass breakups with 2.  His last game with 2 pass breakups was 2012 vs. Ohio. 

·      Sha-Ki Holines set a career high in tackles with 7. His previous career high tackles was 5 vs. Colorado 9/6/14.

·      Da'Sean Downey tied career high in tackles with 5, previously recorded 5 tackles at Toledo 10/25/14.  Also recorded his first career pass breakup.

·      Randall Jette had his 7th career interception, his 4th of the season
