UMass Football Postgame Notes At Miami

• Today's game captains were QB Blake Frohnapfel and LB Stanley Andre

• UMass won the coin toss and deferred until the second half; Miami received the opening kickoff

• DT Leo Krizanovic made his first career start

• LB Stanley Andre made his team leading 30th career start; all of his starts have been consecutive

• DB Randall Jette made his 29th career start which have also been consecutive

• WR Marken Michel posted his first receiving touchdown of the season in the first quarter. He also had a rushing touchdown against Colorado earlier this year. His last receiving touchdown prior to today was at Old Dominion in 2011.

• After a receiving touchdown in the first quarter, RB Shadrach Abrokwah has touchdowns in each of the last two games. This marked his first receiving touchdown of his career. He recorded his first multi-touchdown game of his career with a rushing touchdown as well.

• Abrokwah finished the game with 128 yards marking his second career 100 yard rushing game. His last was at Ohio on Nov. 29, 2013.

• WR Tajae Sharpe passed Steve Schubert and Jimmy Moore on the UMass receiving yards list. Sharpe now ranks 10th all-time for career yardage with 1,564. He needs seven more yards to move into 9th and 120 yards for 8th all-time.

• Sharpe's 122 receptions ranks 8th all-time for career catches at UMass. He needs one more to move into 7th place and four more to move into 6th.

• Sharpe's 678 receiving yards this season is two shy of his season output a year ago. He is averaging five more yards per catch (16.5) than a year ago.

• DB Khary Bailey-Smith returned a kick-off for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. His 93-yard TD return marked the second of his career. His last kickoff career was a 90-yard TD return against Western Michigan in 2013.

• Bailey-Smith has been a key figure in the last two years against Miami (Ohio). To go with his kickoff return touchdown this year, he had a two-interception game and 10 tackles against the RedHawks last year.

• FB Rodney Mills had a touchdown reception in the second quarter giving him a team best five for the year. Mills now has five touchdowns on 13 receptions this season.

• LB Adam Richard forced a fumble on the kick coverage unit and DB Khary Bailey-Smith recoverd the ball. That marked the first fumble recovery of the season for UMass. The play led to a UMass touchdown giving the Minutemen a 34-14 lead.

• QB Blake Frohnapfel threw for 389 yards and 4 touchdowns; he now has 978 yards and 9 touchdowns in the last two games. Frohnapfel's 15 touchdown passes this season are just two shy of cracking the program's top-10 single-season list. He is also just 140 yards shy of passing the 2,000 yard mark.

• Frohnapfel's 389 yards passing are the 9th most for a single-game at UMass tied with Liam Coen (2008) and Brian McNally (1976). His 35 pass completions are the second most for a single game just behind his 36 completions against Bowling Green.

• UMass led 41-21 at halftime which marked the first time since 2006 that UMass scored 40-or-more points in the first half. Against Stony Brook on Sept. 23, UMass had a 42-0 halftime lead. The 41-14 lead for UMass at Miami marked the largest in the FBS era (+27).

• UMass has held a halftime lead three times this season after today. In the prior two seasons, UMass was 1-2 combined when leading at the half.

• UMass also led after three quarters for the third time this year. UMass was 2-3 in the previous two years combined when leading after three quarters.

• The last time UMass scored 83-or-more points in back-to-back games was 2008 when the Minutemen scored 45 points in a win over Holy Cross and 38 in a loss to James Madison.

• UMass' 165 yards rushing were a season high as were the 4.9 yards per carry.

• UMass' 554 total offensive yards were second to last week's 638 yards against Bowling Green.

• For the second straight week, UMass ran 90+ offensive plays for the game. The Minutemen finished with 96 snaps at Miami which was a season high. Last week against Bowling Green, UMass had 92 snaps.
