  • Today was the 59th meeting in the series between UMass and Maine. With the UMass loss, the record now stands at 41-16-1.
  • The Massachusetts coaching staff surprised the players this afternoon with maroon helmets upon their return from pregame warm-ups. This is the first time in program history in which the Minutemen's helmets are maroon.
  • In the first half of play, the UMass defense rose to the occasion on third-down, shutting down Maine on five attempts.
  • Linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox recorded his first career interception early in the first quarter, which halted Maine's 76 yard opening drive.
  • Sophomore Trey Dudley-Giles had a career-best 41 yard return to open the game. Dudley-Giles now has seven kick returns for 206 yards through two games.
  • Quarterback Mike Wegzyn threw his first touchdown pass of the season on the opening drive of the game to sophomore Bernard Davis; the first touchdown reception of his career.
  • Sophomore Tajae Sharpe caught his first career touchdown and had career-bests in receptions (11) and yards (85).
  • Ed Saint-Vil had a team-high 14 tackles, which also was a personal best.
  • UMass only committed three penalties. The third fewest amount of penalties committed under Coach Molnar.
  • The Blackbears outgained the Minutemen 514-265 yards on the afternoon.
