• Tajae Sharpe led the Minutemen with nine catches for a career-high 98 yards. That performance follows up his 11 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown against Maine last weekend.
• Stacey Bedell ran for a career-high 81 yards on 23 carries. He also added one reception for eight yards.
• A.J. Doyle finished the day going 21-for-31 for 186 yards with two interceptions in his first start of the season.
• UMass is now 0-3 all-time against Kansas State falling 38-17 in 2003 and 21-17 in 2009. Eight players from the 2009 UMass team are currently or have been in the NFL.
• Joe Colton's sack to end the first quarter was the first sack by the UMass defense this year.
• Stacey Bedell's touchdown that gave UMass a 7-6 lead in the first quarter was the first of his career.
• Stacey Bedell and A.J. Doyle each had long runs of 14 yards in the first half. Bedell added a career-long 18-yard run in the 4th quarter which is the longest run of the season for the Minutemen.
• Antoine Tharpe posted his first interception of the year in the 1st quarter setting up a UMass touchdown; it was the second interception of his career (last year at UConn).
• The last time UMass had a field goal blocked was here at Kansas State in 2009 when Emmanuel Lamur did so on a Caleb Violette kick.
• Randall Jette blocked a Kansas State extra point attempt marking the first time UMass has done so since Anthony Monette at Delaware on Oct. 10, 2009.
• Shane Huber made his first career start at outside linebacker for UMass. He has played in all three games this season.
• Robert Kitching made his first career start at defensive tackle.
• Defensive lineman Kevin Byrne did not start snapping a streak of 25 consecutive starts.
• The attendance of 52,958 was the sixth largest home crowd at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
• The UMass game captains were David Osei, Justin Anderson, Brendan Levengood and Stanley Andre.
