Tennis Bounces Back With 6-1 Win Over Quinnipiac

AMHERST, Mass. - After a tough loss on Wednesday at Dartmouth, the UMass tennis team bounced back on Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 win over Quinnipiac at the Bay Road Tennis Center. The Minutewomen won two of three doubles matches and six of seven singles sets to improve to 7-2 overall this season.
In doubles action, Yuliana Motyl and Chantal Swiszcz teamed up to defeat Quinnipiac's No. 1 pair of Rachel Cantor and Sarah Viebrock, 8-1. The win improved the UMass duo to 8-1 in dual matches this year. At No. 3 doubles, Chanel Glasper and Jocelyn Providence paired up to defeat Ariana Launie and Mary Chupa earning the Minutewomen the team point.
The Bobcats' started singles play with a win by Cantor at No. 1, but UMass won the next five positions in straight sets to seal the win.
The Minutewomen will return to action next Saturday and Sunday at the Bay Road Tennis Center. On Saturday, UMass will host A-10 rival Fordham at 12:30 PM. Sunday's match will be against Binghamton at 12:30 PM and will be televised live in Western Massachusetts on CBS3 Now.
