• UMass will take to the road for its Mid-American Conference opener as the Minutemen head to Bowling Green this Saturday. Kick-off is slated for 3:30 PM. The Maroon & White is coming off a bye week following its non-conference schedule which should allow UMass to enter the game as close to fully healthy as possible. • The game will be televised live on ESPN3 and via the WatchESPN app. • The UMass Sports Network will once again feature Voice of the Mintuemen Josh Maurer handling play-by-play duties alongside analyst Matt Goldstein and sideline reporter Cody Chrusciel. The game can be heard live starting at 3:10 PM (EST) on 1240 AM, 1400 AM and 96.9 FM WHMP (Northampton) and 95.9 FM WATD (South Shore). The broadcast is also available online through www.UMassAthletics.com and on smart phones and tablets through the TuneIn app. • Bowling Green held UMass to just 118 yards of total offense and six first downs en route to a 24-0 win last season in the first meeting between the two schools. The Minutemen trailed just 7-0 at halftime, but a 14-point third quarter with a 74-yard drive and a 48-yard interception return in the last four minutes sealed the win for the Falcons. The BGSU defense held UMass to just 85 yards rushing and 33 yards through the air. UMass allowed just 94 yards rushing, but Matt Schilz was 21-of-35 through the air for 188 yards and two touchdowns. • UMass is coming off a bye week following a 24-7 loss to Vanderbilt. Despite the score, the game was just a 10-7 affair in favor of the Commodores heading into the fourth quarter. Vandy chewed up the clock and yardage in the fourth quarter with a pair of 80-plus yard drives which used 12 minutes and 27 seconds of game clock. • Saturday's game will mark the first of five consecutive MAC games for the Minutemen. That stretch includes both the current East Division leader in Bowling Green capped by undefeated Northern Illinois. It also features home games against Miami (Ohio) and Western Michigan which are both winless on the season. • The Minutemen will return home next Saturday, Oct. 12 to host Miami (Ohio) at Gillette Stadium. Kick-off is set for 3:00 PM. • UMass will honor its specific Colleges which make up the overall University at several home games this year. At the Vanderbilt game, UMass honored the Isenberg School of Management which is one of the top programs in the country.
