Sbordon And Arnott Named UMass Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Joey Sbordon and Katie Arnott of the men and women's swimming and diving teams were named UMass co-Athletes of the Week this week following their outstanding performances against Fordham this past Saturday. Both will be honored this Wednesday February 8 at the UMass Sports Luncheon starting at 12:15 pm in the Campus Center.
In his final meet in Joseph Rogers Pool, Sbordon, a native of Franklin, Mass. was able to put together a record breaking performance in the 200-yard freestyle as he set a pool record touching the wall with a time of 1:40.43. He was also able to take first in the 500-yard freestyle finishing with a time of 4:47.60.
Arnott, a freshman from Suffern, N.Y., was able to take three of the four Minutewomen top finishes, Saturday. She captured both the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 1:07.85 and 2:27.07, respectively. She also took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.88.
The men and women's swimming and diving teams will be back in the pool on Feb. 22-25 from the Atlantic 10 Championships in Buffalo, N.Y.
