45th Ranked Boston College Tops Tennis, 6-1 In Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's tennis team opened up the spring season at home this afternoon at the Bay Road Tennis Club, falling to 45th ranked Boston College by a score of 6-1. After dropping the first set 6-7 from the sixth singles slot, freshman Chanel Glasper defeated BC's Sarah Dalton, 6-7, 6-1, 10-7. Glasper's record now improves to 2-1 in dual matches and 11-3 overall on the season.
Although Glasper had the lone win for UMass, the Minutewomen fought very well and came back strong in the 2nd sets of most of their matches against a strong Boston College squad. At the first and third singles spots, Yuliana Motyl and Jessica Podlofsky both brought their respective second sets to 7-6.
The team now heads to Cambridge, Mass. for a bout with Harvard tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
