Five Named To Hockey East All-Academic Team

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass hockey team posted five players on the Hockey East All-Academic Team as announced by the league on Wednesday. To be named to the squad, student-athletes are required to post 3.0-or-better grade-point-averages for each semester of the season. Senior Michael Lecomte was one of the five for UMass and one of nine in the league to be named to the team for each of his four years of college.
In addition to Lecomte, junior Kevin Moore was named to the the All-Academic Team for the second straight season. Conor Allen, Colin Shea and Jeff Teglia round out UMass' honorees earning the recognition in their first season with the Minutemen.
All told, 85 student-athletes in the league earned the distinction in Hockey East's 27th season of play. Maine senior defenseman Jeff Dimmen and freshman goalie Dan Sullivan were named Hockey East Co-Top Scholar-Athlete as they each earned 4.0 GPA's for the season.
