AMHERST, Mass. - On Saturday, the UMass tennis team (10-8, 3-0 A-10) took down the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (6-9, 0-1 A-10), 7-0, at the Bay Road Tennis Club. UMass was able to easily grab all three doubles matches and won all six doubles matches in straight sets. Senior Candynce Boney was highlighted by winning her No. 3 singles to put her tied for fourth all-time at UMass in doubles victories with Maude Lecluyse at 60.
After hitting a bump in the schedule, UMass looked like everything was going its way. The three duos of Yuliana Motyl/ Chantal Swiszcz, Candynce Boney/ Tanisha Hodgson, and Jessica Podlofsky/ Kaitlyn Carpenter, all played spectacular, yielding scores of 8-0, 8-1, and 8-1.
As for the singles matches, in the No. 1 singles, Yuliana Motyl was having a tough time readjusting to the indoor courts after playing outdoors in Florida in her first set. After a few adjustments and suggestions made by Coach Dixon, Motyl was able to win her match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
The No. 2, 4, 5, and 6 singles were dominated by Julia Comas, Jessica Podlofsky, Chantal Swiszcz, and Kaitlyn Carpenter, as they were able win their matches, 6-1, 6-0.
