AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's tennis team is set to head to Dartmouth for the Big Green Invitational this Friday for the team's final tournament of the fall. The tournament will span the course of three days, with competition wrapping up on Sunday, November 3. The team will be looking to end the fall season with a successful showing in Hanover, N.H.
The Minutewomen last competed at the ITA Regionals hosted by Yale two weeks ago. The highlight of the tournament for UMass was the performance of the doubles squad of Chantal Swiszcz and Yuliana Motyl. Swiszcz and Motyl advanced to the Round of 16 after defeating #4 seeded Penn and unseeded Binghamton. Also winning a match was Julia Comas, who fell in the second round of competition to the 11th seed in the main singles draw.
UMass has had a considerable amount of success in tournaments this season. Most notably, Chanel Glasper and Jessica Podlofsky have posted singles records of 7-1 and 8-1 respectively. Comas has five tournament singles wins while Sonia Bokhari and Jocelyn Providence have each tallied three. On the doubles side, the Swiszcz/Motyl pairing has been a steadying force with four tournament wins.
