Swimming Sweeps A-10 Rookie Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass swimming was honored this week as the Atlantic 10 has named both Michael Glenn and Katie Arnott Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Rookies of the Week. This is the second time this year where UMass has swept the Rookie of the Week honors. This weeks honor comes after two exceptional performances at the Terrier Invitational over the weekend.
Glenn, the native of Overland Park, Kan., continued his success in the pool for the Minutemen this weekend at the Terrier, helping the men to a fourth-place finish receiving a total of 600 points. Glenn was able to take three top-five finishes. He finished second in the 400-yard IM (4:02.66), third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:04.36) and fifth in the 200-yard IM (1:53.75). This is his second Rookie of the Week honor, his last coming after the dual-meet against Army.
Arnott, of Suffern, N.Y., had a phenomenal weekend at the Terrier helping the Minutewomen to a fourth place finish with 368 points against very tough competition. Arnott was able to set school records in both the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:26.35, and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:20.11. She took second of twenty-four swimmers in the 400 IM and fourth of twenty-four in the 200 breast. She was also able to bring a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.14) and a fifth-place finish as a member of the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.27).
Both the men and women will have this weekend off, and be back in action on Dec. 3. The Minutemen will be traveling to Yale to take on the Bulldogs in a meet that is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. The Minutewomen will be welcoming the Northeastern Huskies to Joseph Rogers pool in a meet that is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
