AMHERST, Mass. - Anchoring a UMass defense that forced six turnovers and held Richmond to just one-yard rushing, Perry McIntyre earned CAA Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday. McIntyre recorded 11 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in the 28-7 win on the road.

For the native of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., this was his fourth double-figure tackle performance of the season. His 3.5 TFL's were a career-high and his total tackles were one shy of a career-high.

In the third quarter, McIntyre posted a sack on 4th-and-6 with the Spiders driving at the UMass 22-yard line to help swing momentum back to the Minutemen.

For the season, he now has 76 tackles which ranks second-most on the team behind All-American Tyler Holmes (79). The duo are widely thought of as the best linebacking combo in the CAA. He now has 182 career tackles in 29 games.

UMass will return to action this Saturday against Villanova at McGuirk Stadium (3:30 PM). The game is a highlight of the Homecoming Weekend with tickets available by calling 866-UMASS-TIX or by going to www.TicketMaster.com.
