LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Kara Charochak and Kate Heineman scored second half goals to lead UMass field hockey to a 2-1 comeback victory to open Atlantic 10 play at Lock Haven on Saturday afternoon. The defending A-10 champs erased a 1-0 deficit with goals in the 43rd and 62nd minute to secure their 11th straight conference win.
Heineman scored off a penalty corner, shooting high and far side, in the 62nd minute to break a 1-1 tie and give UMass the 2-1 victory. It was the junior's second goal of the season.
Charochak tied the game 1-1 in the 43rd minute when she took a crossing pass from Alexa Sikalis and scored her first goal of the season. The assist was Sikalis' team-leading third of the year.
Krist Shepps gave Lock Haven the early 1-0 lead with a goal off a Nicole Weaknecht pass 8:12 into the game.
The victory was UMass' 11th in a row over A-10 opponents, dating back to a Oct. 23, 2009 1-0 loss to Richmond.
Alesha Widdall made three saves for the win in goal.
UMass held an 11-9 shot advantage for the game.
