RICHMOND, Va. - In a battle for a first round bye in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, the UMass women's soccer team came up just short of Richmond , falling 1-0 on Sunday in the teams' regular season finale. The Minutewomen are now 12-4-2 (6-2-1 A-10), and will be the No. 4 seed in the A-10 tournament next week by virtue of Dayton's win at Charlotte this afternoon. The Spiders improve to 13-4-3 on the year and 7-1-1 in the conference.

The match was scoreless at halftime with Richmond leading 11-6 in shots and 3-0 in corner kicks.

Then in the 63rd minute, Becca Wann managed to net her 15th goal of the season. Emily Dale sent a cross from the left into Wann for the header and lone tally of the match.

The Spiders finished the contest with a 22-11 shot advantage and led in corner kicks, 5-1. Senior Julie Morrissey had five of UMass' 11 attempts, including two on goal. Junior Emily Cota had seven saves in net for the Minutewomen, while Andrea Young made four saves for Richmond. Fouls were 10-5 against the Spiders.
